Naturopathy

What is Naturopathy?

Naturopathy is another of our natural, holistic modalities that allows us to help your body to heal itself. Naturopathy allows us to use modalities such as Herbal Medicine, Nutrition, Nutritional Supplements and Massage to encourage your body to overcome a wide range of health issues.

Naturopathy

Why choose Naturopathy?

Many people choose Naturopathy to address their health needs for many reasons

  • Naturopathy is a healing art the is based on the principles of “the healing power of nature” vis medicatrix naturae
  • Naturopathy treats the underlying causes of health imbalances within the body
  • Naturopathy aims to restore your vitality by supporting and stimulating your body’s own healing mechanisms

What Modalities are used in Naturopathy?

Western Herbal Medicine

Plants provide us with one of the oldest forms of medicine in society. I use extracts, tinctures and tablets derived from plants and tailor make prescriptions to suit the individual. Herbal preparations are able to balance your whole body – not just work on one specific system or organ as we see with pharmaceuticals. The herbal products I use of the highest quality and there is much research carried out to support the use of these products.

Nutrition

Are you eating the right foods for your body? Are you perhaps eating too much of one type of food at the expense of another? Do the foods you eat provide you with adequate nutrients for this time of your life?

These questions are important to me as a Naturopath. If the fuel for the body is lacking – then the body will not function at it’s optimal level.

In order to re-establish a correct nutritional status we may have to use nutritional supplements as well as specific foods.

Massage

Are your shoulders tight? Does your back ache constantly?

Do your muscles feel tight and knotty?

In conjunction with your Naturopathy treatments, we may need to use some massage. Your massage will focus on how tension in the muscles is interrelated within your body. Is the pain in your lower back related to tension in your neck? Is your sore shoulder related to the heavy object you lifted yesterday or is it due to tension elsewhere in your body?

Your massage, therefore, is more than just working on the muscles that are causing your pain. I will look at the state of your entire body (both inside and out) to determine how to effectively release your tight muscles and treat any underlying causes.
